‘One Kuwaiti pilot blasted all three US F-15 jets out of the sky in friendly fire blunder’
Kuwaiti Pilot Mistakenly Downed Three US F-15s in Friendly Fire Incident
A Kuwaiti pilot operating a U.S.-produced fighter jet inadvertently downed three American F-15s during a training exercise, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. The error occurred when the pilot mistook the aircraft for Iranian jets, leading to a critical misidentification.
According to sources close to the initial investigation, the pilot launched three missiles at the U.S. planes, which were part of a joint mission in the region. The strike forced the American pilots to eject, with all six crew members safely recovered and transported to hospitals for evaluation.
“Several US warplanes crashed this morning. Confirming that all crew members survived,” stated a Kuwaiti defense ministry official on Monday. The statement followed the revelation that the planes were spiraling out of control before crashing near a U.S. military base.
Video clips shared online captured the chaotic aftermath, including a U.S. pilot parachuting from his aircraft and being approached by local civilians. One man in the footage brandished a metal pipe while shouting, seemingly believing the airman to be an Iranian soldier.
The pilot, who was aboard one of the downed jets, repeatedly urged the crowd to back away, but the confusion persisted. The situation eased after he identified himself as American, prompting the onlookers to disperse.
Meanwhile, a separate incident unfolded in Kuwait as a drone strike targeted a U.S. operations center, killing six soldiers on Sunday. The attack, which occurred in Port Shuaiba, highlighted tensions amid the ongoing conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran.
President Trump and senior defense officials warned that more casualties could follow as the region’s military operations intensify. Pentagon officials confirmed the strike was carried out by an Iranian drone, with the main building in the complex reduced to rubble and smoke rising from the site.
Kuwait, home to the largest U.S. military contingent in the Middle East—over 13,500 troops—now faces the dual challenge of investigating the friendly fire incident and recovering from the drone strike. The events underscore the complexities of maintaining operational safety in high-stakes regional conflicts.
