Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Strictly Come Dancing Star to Avoid Rape Charges, Police Confirm
Investigation Concludes There’s Not Enough Evidence for Criminal Action
Hertfordshire Police announced on Tuesday that a male celebrity from the BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing will not be charged with rape. The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was detained on 13 October 2025 and released on bail following an investigation. The decision came after prosecutors reviewed the case and concluded that “insufficient evidence” existed to pursue formal charges.
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police stated. “The man, who had his bail extended until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, will face no further action.”
The Sun had previously reported that the star was accused of sexually assaulting a woman after a BBC event. However, the woman involved was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show, but rather someone who had connected with the individual through their participation in the competition. This incident is unrelated to the most recent series of Strictly.
The BBC series, which runs from September to December, is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. Earlier in the year, another man linked to the show was arrested in August on suspicion of rape and non-consensual intimate image abuse. His role within the program is still under review.
Additional details were provided by reporter Noor Nanji, who covered the developments. The case highlights the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the popular dance competition and its participants.
