Your Guide to the UK’s Music Festival Season for Summer 2026
With the UK basking in warm sunshine this week, the vibrant summer festival season is set to begin. Though Glastonbury takes a break this year, fans can still enjoy a packed lineup of events. From coastal vibes to urban beats, there’s something for every music enthusiast, whether they prefer tented camping or a more relaxed setting.
Big Festival Line-Ups
Reading and Leeds Festival returns from 27 to 30 August, offering six British and Irish headliners including Charli XCX, Dave, and Fontaines D.C. Leeds adds a Thursday night special with Kasabian. For those seeking a diverse lineup, Isle of Wight Festival promises performances from Lewis Capaldi and Teddy Swims, alongside local indie act Wet Leg.
Boardmasters in Cornwall features Fatboy Slim and The Kooks across 5-9 August. If you’re after a three-day experience without camping, TRNSMT in Glasgow will showcase Wolf Alice and Two Door Cinema Club from 19 to 21 June. BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend moves to Sunderland, featuring Niall Horan and Zara Larsson from 22-24 May.
Download Festival continues to draw rock and alternative fans, with Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park headlining in the East Midlands from 12-14 June. Kendal Calling in the Lake District offers indie-centric sets by Wolf Alice and The Libertines during 30 July to 2 August. Meanwhile, Parklife in Manchester hosts Calvin Harris and Skepta for 20-21 June, while Boomtown in Hampshire features Skrillex and Four Tet from 12-16 August.
New Festival Debuts
The UK’s festival landscape is expanding this year. Silverworks Island in East London, a scenic spot on the River Thames, will debut as a dance music hub with Pendulum and Tiesto performing in June and July. Labyrinth on the Thames, now in its second year, will again captivate with its backdrop of the Old Royal Naval College, showcasing Dom Dolla and Peggy Gou in August.
State Fayre, a fresh addition for rock, country, and alternative fans, will debut in 2026. Lovebox Festival also makes a comeback after seven years, relocating to Margate with a dance-themed lineup featuring Rudimental and Groove Armada in May.
Genre-Specific Highlights
Dance music lovers will find excitement at Creamfields in Cheshire, where Swedish House Mafia and Martin Garrix take the stage from 27-30 August. Truck Festival in Oxfordshire adds to the mix with The Maccabees and Kaiser Chiefs performing 23-26 July. For a coastal escape, the Boardmasters lineup includes Lily Allen and The Wombats, creating a unique blend of beachside energy and musical talent.
Those prioritizing comfort over camping might favor BST Hyde Park’s late June and early July dates, headlined by Maroon 5 and Garth Brooks. All Points East in London’s Victoria Park brings Jorja Smith and Lorde to the scene in late August, proving that even the city’s urban sprawl can’t contain the festival spirit.
