Russian Attacks Leave Three Dead in Ukraine

Wednesday night saw Russia deploy a series of drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals, according to Ukrainian officials. Among the casualties in Kyiv was a 12-year-old boy, reported by the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, who noted that 18 others were injured. A separate incident in Dnipro, a city in southeastern Ukraine, claimed one life, with additional reports of attacks in other regions.

Cross-Border Casualties in Russia

Meanwhile, two children, aged five and 14, were killed in a Ukrainian drone strike within Russia’s Krasnodar Krai region, stated its governor, Veniamin Kondratyev, via Telegram. The strikes occurred amid a brief ceasefire that followed Orthodox Easter celebrations, during which both sides accused each other of numerous breaches.

Klitschko shared on Telegram that besides the boy and a 35-year-old woman, rescuers recovered a mother and child from the remains of a 16-storey residential building that collapsed in Kyiv’s central Podilsky district. In the city’s northern areas, four emergency medical workers were among those affected by repeated shelling.

Further damage was reported in Dnipro, where one person died and at least 10 were hurt, as confirmed by Oleksandr Ganzha, head of the regional administration. Images circulating online showed burning structures in the city. Additional attacks left a 77-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man wounded in Kharkiv, while five individuals were injured in Odesa’s southern port.

With the war entering its fifth year, multiple peace negotiations have taken place, led by the United States as mediator. However, talks have stalled since President Donald Trump redirected attention to the Middle East conflict. Ukraine has proposed a comprehensive, stable ceasefire as the initial step toward a permanent resolution of the invasion, yet Moscow insists on finalizing a peace deal first, prompting Kyiv to accuse Russia of lacking genuine intent to end hostilities.
