Oscars red carpet: Stars and fashion in pictures
The Oscars’ red carpet has long been a stage for standout fashion, with this year’s event no exception. Celebrities from across Hollywood made bold choices, blending style with star power as they arrived for the ceremony in Los Angeles. Among them, Chase Infiniti of One Battle After Another made a striking debut in a lavender custom Louis Vuitton gown, cementing her status as both an actress and a fashion trendsetter.
Competition for the best-dressed title was fierce, with many nominees opting for distinctive looks. Rose Byrne, up for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, chose a black Dior dress adorned with a detailed floral embroidery. Jessie Buckley, a frontrunner for best actress, showcased her vibrant side in a red and pink ensemble, diverging from her usual minimalist aesthetic. Wunmi Mosaku, nominated for best supporting actress in Sinners, drew attention with a glittering gown that accentuated her pregnancy.
Renate Reinsve, another best supporting actress nominee for Sentimental Value, continued her Louis Vuitton love affair with a sleek, custom red dress designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere. Demi Moore, returning after a previous nomination for The Substance, made a dramatic entrance in a Gucci creation featuring feathers. Emma Stone, nominated for best actress, arrived in a shimmering oyster-colored Louis Vuitton gown, adding to the night’s fashion highlights.
Notable pairings and family moments were also on display. Kate Hudson, set to compete for best actress in Song Sung Blue, shared the red carpet with her mother, Goldie Hawn, marking a nostalgic reunion 56 years after Hawn’s Oscar win for Cactus Flower. Teyana Taylor, known for her fashion-forward choices alongside her role in One Battle After Another, wore a black-and-white Chanel design. Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio, a star of One Battle After Another, chose a classic black tuxedo, while Timothée Chalamet, nominated for Marty Supreme, went for an all-white look.
Other memorable moments included Pedro Pascal’s oversized white floral brooch, which overshadowed his bow tie and tuxedo. Paul Mescal, starring in Hamnet, arrived with his girlfriend, singer Gracie Abrams. Li Jun Li, also from Sinners, impressed with a streamlined Gaurav Gupta creation. Amy Madigan, returning after four decades since her last Oscar nod for Twice in a Lifetime, made a statement in an embellished black gown.
As the ceremony unfolded, several stars stood out. Odessa A’zion, from Marty Supreme, wore a dramatic black gown with intricate detailing. Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, one of four nominees from Sentimental Value, paired her look with co-star Elle Fanning’s elegant white Givenchy princess gown. Last year’s best actress winner, Mikey Madison, matched her velvet gown to the red carpet, adding a touch of sophistication to the event.
“Mikey Madison may have matched her velvet gown to the red carpet,” said a stylist at the event.
Presenters and performers brought their own flair. Former Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, in a Chanel gown, was set to host an award. Kieran Culkin, a Succession star, returned as a presenter after dominating the supporting actor category last year. Regina Hall, from One Battle After Another, chose a black and gold gown, while Gwyneth Paltrow, nominated for Marty Supreme, wore a white gown with a side slit.
Additional stars made their mark. Damson Idris, an F1 personality, looked sharp in an ink blue overcoat with fur accents. Anne Hathaway, preparing for the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2, wore a flowing strapless floral dress. Zoe Saldaña, the previous best supporting actress winner, returned in a lingerie-inspired Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello piece. Meanwhile, Maggie Kang, producer of the KPop group Demon Hunters, dazzled in a red outfit, while the group’s members Rei Ami, Ejae, and Audrey Nuna performed their hit Golden during the show.
Behind the scenes, Hamnet’s Maggie O’Farrell, co-writing the screenplay, opted for a bubblegum pink gown with black lace gloves and a mesh fascinator. Director Spike Lee, accompanied by his wife Tonya Lewis Lee, wore a purple fedora suit with a matching bow tie and silver cassette accessories. Bella Thorne’s black feathered cuffs and sheer slip added a unique edge to the evening’s fashion.
