Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother goes on
Savannah Guthrie has resumed her role on NBC’s Today show, appearing in the studio for the first time since January 30th. This marks the latest development in the ongoing efforts to locate her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared two days prior. The family had previously paused her professional obligations, including her duties as an anchor and NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics, following the incident.
On Easter Sunday, Guthrie shared a heartfelt message from a New York church, reaffirming her faith. “I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,'” she stated in her closing remarks after the service at Good Shepherd New York. The segment highlighted her emotional resilience amid the search for her mother, who has remained missing.
Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie was taken voluntarily from her Tucson, Arizona, residence. However, no suspect has been arrested, and the motive for her disappearance remains unclear. She was last seen on the evening of January 31st, dropped off by relatives, before failing to attend a friend’s virtual Sunday service the next morning. The family has since offered a $1 million reward for any information leading to her recovery.
Guthrie expressed her determination to return to work, stating in a recent interview that she could not stay away. “This is my family,” she emphasized, hinting at the personal stakes involved. She also considered the possibility that her own public profile might have played a role in her mother’s disappearance, a thought she admitted was difficult to process.
