Stepdad Accused of Sex Assault in Girl’s Benadryl Death Probe
Stepdad accused of sex assault as cops – Connecticut authorities have intensified their investigation into the tragic death of twelve-year-old Eve Rogers, now suspecting her stepfather of both sexual misconduct and involvement in her fatal overdose. Anthony Federline, thirty-nine, faces charges of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor following the discovery of his stepdaughter’s body in March. The case has grown increasingly complex as detectives examine digital evidence and toxicology reports that paint a troubling picture of the child’s final days.
Medical Findings Reveal Lethal Dose
On March 18, family members found Eve lying on her bedroom floor, partially unclothed with fluids running down her body. The medical examiner’s office determined that the girl died from a massive overdose of diphenhydramine, the active ingredient in Benadryl. Her blood contained 23,000 nanograms per milliliter of the medication, a level far exceeding the 4,390 ng/ml threshold considered lethal for children. Experts estimate that approximately 1.8 liters of liquid diphenhydramine would be required to produce such a concentration in a young girl’s system.
Additional toxicology results revealed the presence of fluoxetine, commonly known as Prozac, despite no prescription records showing the medication was prescribed to Eve. Investigators noted that no dyes were found in her system, which helped rule out the possibility that she consumed Sleep Aid capsules rather than liquid Benadryl. These findings have become central to understanding how the fatal dose was administered.
Digital Investigation Expands
Police have been searching multiple digital platforms to piece together events leading up to Eve’s death. Investigators are reviewing activity on Facebook and Snapchat, while also examining records from CVS Caremark and two separate Amazon accounts. The girl’s mother told detectives that she had purchased Sleep Aid capsules and what she described as a “sexual pleasure device” through her Amazon account. She also discovered inappropriate internet conversations that raised concerns about her daughter’s online interactions.
Federline has maintained that he used various applications to communicate with his stepdaughter and claimed these conversations were non-sexual in nature. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. According to police, Federline is identified as a “contributor from a DNA swab,” linking him to evidence collected during the investigation. The case is scheduled to proceed to court later this month, where prosecutors will present their findings.
The combination of sexual assault allegations and the suspicious circumstances surrounding Eve’s death has created a multifaceted investigation. Authorities continue to gather evidence as they work to determine whether the lethal Benadryl dose was intentional or accidental, and how it relates to the broader allegations against Federline.
